PALS Course Description

Los Angeles Career College is offering Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification classes for healthcare professionals, approved by American Heart Association. Our classes follow all the latest guidelines of American Heart Association and are accepted in all 50 States of the United States. PALS Certification is for healthcare providers as a job or other requirements, who respond to emergencies for infants and children. These include but are not limited to personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. Some occupations may be requiring the Certification include: physicians, nurses, paramedics, and others. This classroom, instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Certification Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application CPR within 10 seconds

Apply team dynamics

Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure

Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure

Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock

Early interventions for the treatment of shock

Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias

Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias

Post–cardiac arrest management

PALS Online Course Description

Los Angeles Career College offers a great opportunity for healthcare professionals to accommodate learning with their busy schedule. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification is for healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies with infants and children. These includes, but are not limited to personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care unites. Some occupations needing the course include nurses, paramedics, physicians and others, who need PALS course completion card as a job or other requirement.

Students who successfully complete the online portion of the course receive a certificate granting them access to a PALS Hands-on Session with an AHA PALS Instructor. Students must successfully complete both the online portion and the hands-on session to receive a PALS Provider course completion card (print or eCard).
